Given the high likelihood of unintentional transmissions, operators who wish to use VOX must get permission in writing from the club to do so.
This is as simple as sending an email HERE listing the following…
1. The need for VOX.
VOX may be a viable option for Single Side Band, but it does not belong on FM repeaters. Differences between the VOX delay and the repeater’s delay tend to make unintentional “kerchunks” and accidental keying. These “doubles” can both be heard on SSB, but make terrible intermodulation on FM.
If there is a legitimate need for the use of VOX, W4CQ will work with registered users to get their system running within acceptable tolerances.
2. Valid contact information.
W4CQ requires a valid phone number and monitored email so we can reach you in the event of a problem.
Your email will be added to a list allowing W4CQ to notify all VOX users simultaneously if a “hot mic” is left open. This streamlines the process of finding and correcting the offending station.
QRM from unregistered VOX users will be tracked and reported to the FCC.
