We welcome new members to the W4CQ Volunteer Examiner (VE) team. FCC part 97 section 509 defines the requirements to become a VE and sign paperwork for exams. You must:
- Be accredited by a Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC)
- Be at least 18 years old
- Hold a valid Amateur Radio license (General, Advanced, or Extra)
- Not have had your ham license revoked.
A Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC) is responsible for accrediting Volunteer Examiners (VEs), maintaining the question pools, and handling the interaction with the FCC.
The W4CQ VE team works with three VECs (ARRL, Laurel, and WCARS) to ensure the highest standards among the VEs. If you would like to join the W4CQ Volunteer Examiner team and help out when we administer an exam, please contact our President Shawn Goodin, K4RSG.
